FORTNITE SEASON X IS A THRILLING MIXTURE OF EMOTIONS FOR COMMUNITY

Fortnite Season X has brought various changes which have evoked mixed reactions from community members.

Thursday, August 1st saw Season X officially begin for the popular game of Fortnite Battle Royale. As with previous new seasons of Fortnite, there was a great deal of anticipation from the community regarding what new things Epic Games would be bringing to its high-profile title. This anticipation was rewarded with Epic Games making various game-changing alterations to Fortnite with the start of Season X.

The first week of Fortnite Season X has now passed. A plethora of changes has been made in this short period for the latest season of the battle royale game. Now that a decent amount of time has passed we have a much more detailed view of what Fortnite Season X is and how players are taking to it so far.

One of the most significant additions to Fortnite so far in Season X has been the Rift Zone feature. This Rift Zone mechanic has taken over the popular point of interest of Neo Tilted (formerly Tilted Towers) and has transformed it completely. This point of interest is now known as Tilted Town, and it has elements a location in Fortnite has never seen before.

Players who enter the new Wild West settlement lose the ability to build structures or harvest any materials. This restriction means a whole part of the battle royale game’s map currently forbids two game mechanics which have set Fortnite apart from its competitors. Players who enter Tilted Town now have to rely on their gun skill and ability to use the environment to survive this Season X Rift Zone point of interest.

Another never before seen feature the Tilted Town Rift Zone has brought is the automatic changing of the cosmetic look of a player’s character. No matter what skin you are wearing, you will don a Wild West outfit when you enter the area of Tilted Town to help keep with the theme of the Rift Zone.

Season X will be bringing many more Rift Zones throughout its duration. These future additions mean the community can expect to see plenty more crazy locations, such as Tilted Town, pop up in the future of Fortnite.

Community reaction to the recent addition of Tilted Town has been a mixture of positive and negative sentiments. Some players enjoy having an area where Fortnite’s high skill gap mechanic of building is not present and dominating fights.

However, others have not been pleased with Epic Games removing the game’s core feature from one of its most iconic locations. Others are not pleased with the Wild West makeover of the point of interest. The reasoning for this is because the time travel theme of Season X had many members of the community expecting to see the fan-favorite Tilted Towers location make a return to the map.

This mixture of emotions has been prevalent for the majority of the content changes made at the start of Season X in Fortnite. Many players were thrilled to see infamous items like the Baller, Air Strike, Shadow Bomb, Mounted Turrets and others vaulted when Season X arrived. Unfortunately, this positive reception has been short-lived thanks to the most significant game-changer Epic Games added to Fortnite this season.

The Brute Mech is a two-player vehicle which allows for complete control over a robotic monster. This Brute Mech is mighty with its shotgun and missiles capable of quickly eliminating enemy players without much effort from those utilizing the Brute Mech. This power of the Brute Mech has led to a public outcry from the community for Epic Games to either nerf or vault the robot vehicle. The reasoning for this is that a large portion of the game’s community believe the Brute Mech is too powerful and is not suitable for the health of Fortnite.

A quick look through Twitter will show countless videos of players being easily eliminated by Brute Mechs in what looks to be one of the least positively received additions in the history of the battle royale game.

A series of Tweets from NRG Esports professional Fortnite player Mason “Symfuhny” Lanier perfectly represent the mixture of reactions players have had to everything Season X has changed in Fortnite. You would be hard-pressed to find a more relatable series of emotions when it comes to what community members have felt in the season’s first week.

Fortnite Season X has no doubt brought plenty of excitement and discussion in its first week and will undoubtedly continue to do so heading into the future. Whatever your take, there is no denying Season X has already staked its claim as one of the most polarizing seasons in the wacky history of Fortnite Battle Royale.
