FORTNITE CELEBRATES HALLOWEEN WITH A FORTNITEMARES EVENT

Fortnite Celebrates Halloween With A Fortnitemares Event

Fortnite continues to get bigger and better, constantly adding in new content for fans to engage with.  While this season in Fortnite has had a Marvel focus, the gang at Epic is making a special pitstop with the Battle Bus in order to celebrate Halloween!  There’s a slew of spooky, scary fun to be had on Battle Royale island right now, and you can get in on the action until November 3rd, 2020.

For the time being, Fortnite has been renamed to Fortnitemares, which is related to a major change to how the battle royale experience works.  Right now, solo, duo, and squads will be battling it out in Midas’ Revenge, which gives players a new way to participate in the fight after they’ve fallen.

In Fortnite’s traditional Battle Royale mode, players get downed by opponents, which would require them to be revived by a teammate.  If one of your friends couldn’t bring you back into the battle, you’d end up being removed from the game, and replaced with a Reboot Card.  Another teammate could pick up that Reboot Card, take it to one of the Reboot Vans on the map, and give you a second chance to snag a Victory Royale.  With Fortnitemares: Midas’ Revenge, the Reboot Card/Van scenario has been completely removed in exchange for a chance to play as a ghoulish Shadow.

Shadows come with a completely different set of abilities.  Instead of grabbing guns to shoot down your adversaries, you’ll now have otherworldly powers like super-powered claws, an incredible leap, a burst of extreme speed, and even a mechanic that lets you see exactly where the other players are.  The goal for all the Shadows is to team up and take out the remaining living players, which secures a Nitemare Royale.  If you need a bit of health while dishing out damage, snack on a gun or any other item to get back to 100%.  Just be careful, because Shadows can be snuffed out with just a few shots, and once you’re out, you’re out for good!

The Battle Royale map itself has also gotten a makeover with new locations and items.  The center of the map has been taken over by Midas and his forces, turning the abandoned Agency building into their new headquarters.  If you’re willing to battle the forces here, you can come away with special items like rocket launches, crossbows, and even a drum gun.  If that’s too scary for you, make your way around the map to find one of the new witch huts, which happen to house flying witches brooms ready for you to ride.  If you need a quick pick-me-up while gunning your way to the top, hunt down the random candy buckets added to the map.  These will not only increase your health, but also give you super jump, thermal vision, and super speed attributes.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Fortnite without a grand selection of skins to pick from.  There are a ton of different Halloween-themed skins on the shop right now, ranging from scary versions of classic Fortnite characters, the new Party Trooper, and pop culture figures like the Ghostbusters.  Pair your spooky skin with a haunting emote or two, and you’ll be ready to strut your stuff when you sail down onto Battle Royale island.

While you’re doing your best to secure a victory, don’t forget to participate in the many Fortnitemare-themed challenges that have been added.  These challenges will have you mowing down Shadows, riding long distances on brooms, fighting Shadow Midas himself, and more.  Completing these challenges will net you tons of Season experience, and also grant access to rewards you can’t get any other way.  These include the Midas’ Shadow Wrap, the Smash O’-Lantern Pickaxe, Bobo Back Bling, and others.

If you’d rather enjoy your Fortnitemares content without the pressure of other teams looking to squash you, there’s plenty to enjoy over in Fortnite Creative.  Players can enjoy four different Fortnitemares-inspired islands, and each one is hiding a special code.  If you manage to discover all four of these code sets, you can combine them in order to unlock the Wrath’s Wrath Weapon Wrap.  This is the only way to get this skin, so happy hunting to players who take on the task!

Finally, it wouldn’t be a Fortnite special event without a major concert.  For Fortnitemares, Epic has brought in Reggaeton superstar and four-time Latin GRAMMY winner J Balvin to host an Afterlife Party in Party Royale.  This concert goes down on Party Royale’s main stage on Oct. 31st, 2020 at 9 PM ET, and will showcase J Balvin playing a set of reggae and hip-hop tunes, including the debut of his new song featuring the Panamanian singer, Sech.

Epic always goes all-out on the Halloween celebrations with Fortnite, but their 2020 offering could very well be the biggest yet.  From special game modes, unique items, and even a Halloween-theme concert, there’s plenty for all player types to enjoy.  Make sure to get out there and enjoy all the fun while you still can!
