Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4 Have Been Postponed

June 5, 2020

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone are two of the most popular multiplayer video games in the world, with millions of players jumping into the experiences they offer daily. The next significant chapter for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone were set to be Season 4, where a plethora of new content was scheduled to be added to the game on June 3rd.  However, in the wake of the George Floyd and Black Lives Matter protests across the world, Activision and Infinity Ward have announced that the start of Season 4 for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone has been postponed.

The community was made aware of the announcement regarding the postponement of the start date for Season 4 via the official Twitter account for the high-profile franchise. You can read the statement below:

“While we all look forward to playing the new seasons of Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Call of Duty: Mobile, now is not the time. We are moving the launches of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 to later dates. Right now, it’s time for those speaking up equality, justice, and change to be seen and heard. We stand alongside you,” stated the Call of Duty Twitter account.

Neither Infinity Ward or Activision have announced the new start date for Season 4 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Season 4 is set to the biggest one for the game with the addition of Captain Price as a playable Operator, the possible destruction of the Warzone map leading to changes to Verdansk, and more being pieces of content that players have been looking forward to experiencing. However, the world is facing issues that are much larger than video games with Activision and Infinity Ward, knowing that now is not the right time to release new content with people’s focus needed on much more critical issues in the world.

Call of Duty is not the only franchise to announce that it is pushing back the release of its newest season of content. Epic Games announced that the start of its The Device event and Chapter 2 – Season 3 of Fortnite will be postponed from June 15th and June 17th to allow their “team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities.”

There is no doubt that plenty of players will be excited to eventually jump into everything that Season 4 has to offer members of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone communities. However, now is the time for us to come together and help amplify the voices of those who have been unheard for far too long.
