Will there be an Ace Attorney 7 game? Based on several high profile leaks from Capcom it certainly looks that way. Although, given how long it’s been since the last mainline Ace Attorney game, and the added delays to the release schedule of Ace Attorney 7 – at least based on the Capcom leaks – it’s understandable if some fans are starting to worry about when the next Pheonix Wright game is coming to Nintendo Switch.
Don’t worry though, if you’re craving another entry in the visual novel adventure game we hopefully shouldn’t have too much longer to wait. Keen to know more about Ace Attorney 7? Then read on!

July 1, 2022 - Not-E3 Month is over | And unfortunately not a shred of news about Ace Attorney 7. Hopefully, we’ll see some info on the game later this year, around Gamescom in August or The Game Awards in December. |
June 9, 2022 - Summer Games Fest Livestream |
Summer Game Fest starts later today with a confirmed start time of 11am PT / 2pm ET / 7pm BST. Will it include any extra Capcom news? June 7, 2022 - Capcom Showcase Announced |
Capcom has confirmed that it will be hosting its own live-stream presentation next week, which likely forms part of the Summer Game Fest schedule for June. The Capcom Showcase will take place on Monday, June 13, at 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm BST. It sounds like the event will be focused more on titles which have already been announced, which means it’s more likely to focus on Resident Evil 4 and Street Fighter 6, but still, we can always hope for a surprise Ace Attorney reveal. “Introducing the Capcom Showcase, a new live-streamed digital event bringing you the latest Capcom game information,” the tweet reads. “Tune in on June 13, 3pm PT for around 35 minutes of news and in-depth updates on previously announced Capcom titles.” |
June 2, 2022 - Summer Game Fest Is Next Week |
Don’t forget that the third Summer Game Fest takes place on June 9, and promises to showcase “what’s next in gaming with huge new game announcements, world premieres, special guests, and much more”. It’s also worth noting that the show’s creator Geoff Keighley has let fans know that the show will be “primarily focused” on already announced games. But this isn’t to say it won’t have some new game announcements. Plus with Capcom confirmed to be part of Summer Game Fest, it sure would be a good time to announce some more Ace Attorney. Or at least, one can hope. Either way, tune it, it’ll be fun! |

Ace Attorney 7 Leaks
Towards the end of 2020, Capcom became the victim of a cyberattack, which the company later confirmed as a “customized ransomware attack” that led to unauthorized access to its network. Whilst the bulk of data stolen related to corporate, employee, and customer information, there was also another consequence as Capcom’s alleged game development plans for the next four years started to appear online.
According to IGN, some of the titles mentioned in the leak are definitely in development, or at the very least were in development at some point or another. The list itself included the likes of a Resident Evil 4 remake, Dragon’s Dogma 2, and yes, Ace Attorney 7.
Obviously, since nothing has been officially announced you have to take it with a pinch of salt, but given the severity of the leaks, and the fact several other Ace Attorney games subsequently were released, we’d have to assume Ace Attorney 7’s inclusion is genuine.
Ace Attorney 7 Storyline
Assuming this is a traditional mainline entry in the series it should theoretically follow on from the 2016 3DS game, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice. Can’t remember what that game was all about? You can remind yourself with a watch of the trailer just below. With any luck though, Ace Attorney 7 will continue to expand the character of Apollo Justice and Athena Cykes.
Ace Attorney 7 Release Date Rumours
Following the Capcom leaks, several documents made their way onto the internet, including a roadmap (translated here) for Ace Attorney games specifically. The roadmap appears to suggest that Ace Attorney 7 entered pre-production back in 2019, with the main production starting in 2020 and leading into 2021.
However, the roadmap pinpoints a FY2021 Q3 launch window for Ace Attorney, which would have seen the game release somewhere between July 1 and September 30 last year. Now, obviously, that never happened, so quite where Ace Attorney 7 is in its development cycle is far from clear.
If we had to go out on a limb, we think there’s a chance that the game launches in 2023, but that’s just speculation on our part, so obviously take it with a pinch of salt until Capcom makes any official announcements.
