Star Wars: Squadrons

2020 has given us what could be the most immersive Star Wars experience yet.  Hop into the pilot’s seat with Star Wars Squadrons, which lets you join the New Republic or Galactic Empire to engage in some unbelievable dogfights.  There’s plenty of fun to enjoy in the solo campaign, but the real fun kicks off when you hop online for head-to-head action.  Squad up with your buddies and see if you have what it takes to destroy the opposition and further your side’s standing in the galaxy.  Teamwork is an absolute must here, and if you don’t have good communication with your squad, consider yourself cannon fodder.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection

A lot of gamers got their first taste of multiplayer action through the Halo series on the original Xbox.  Now those fans are getting a second chance at reliving their Halo glory through Halo: The Master Chief Collection.  This compilation of fantastic Halo adventures packs in multiplayer across multiple games, giving fans of the Chief a chance to enjoy Slayer, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, and so much more.  While Halo: The Master Chief Collection started off in rough shape back during its original launch, some major updates in 2020 caused a massive resurgence in the player base, giving people all the more reason to jump in and replay these classics.

Rocket League

There’s never been a better time to get in on Rocket League.  While the racing-meets-soccer title originally launched in 2015, developer Psyonix shifted the game from a paid experience to free-to-play in 2020. This has led to a huge influx of players, including lapsed fans and newcomers.  The soccer action has never been more intense, and the driving is more white-knuckle than ever!  Pick your perfect team of star drivers to hit the pitch, and then dominate the competition with your superior skills!

Fortnite

Fortnite is still one of the biggest online multiplayer games around.  Millions upon millions of players log in every month to drop into the Battle Royale map, all in the hopes of securing a Victory Royale.  The action is always kept fresh with weekly updates that bring in new collaborations, fresh skins, unique emotes, and so much more.  While going solo provides a serious challenge, nothing feels better than taking home the dub with some friends.  Get the squad together, hop onto the Battle Bus, and prepare to get sweaty!

Rainbow Six Siege

There are plenty of games out there that require close work with teammates, but there may be none more intense than Rainbow Six Siege.  It’s 5-on-5 action with just one life per round, making sure you’re sweating bullets while firing them each session.  Every single match can play out differently, thanks to the destructible environments that could turn a seemingly safe room into an all-out war zone.  Matches are a mix of action-packed gunfire and stealthy silence, which is what makes Rainbow Six Siege stand out among the crowd.  Your team better be a well-oiled machine, because there’s no room for error here.

Call of Duty: Warzone

Call of Duty: Warzone might be the game for buddies to join up in right now.  The Call of Duty franchise has been popular for over a decade and a half now, making it the go-to multiplayer experience for many.  Call of Duty: Warzone capitalizes on that by taking the feel and vibe of Call of Duty, and mixing it with the uber-popular Battle Royale genre.  Matches are gritty, loud, and completely over the top, which is just what you want from Call of Duty.  Teaming up with friends and going all-out on the battlefield has made for some of the craziest fun this year.

Among Us

You can’t talk about PC gaming in 2020 without mentioning Among Us.  It has been the biggest hit of the year, and it only continues to grow.  From an original release with little fanfare to an explosion in popularity thanks to Twitch streamers, Among Us is the pinnacle of multiplayer PC gaming right now.  Nothing leads to heated conversations and subterfuge like a game of Among Us!  If you’ve managed to make your way through 2020 without giving this one a go, we have to consider you pretty sus!
